Welcome to the FHIR Colombia Core Implementation Guide

Welcome to the FHIR Colombia Core Implementation Guide! This resource represents a joint effort by the HL7 Colombia community to standardize and adapt the use of HL7 FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources) to the needs of the Colombian healthcare sector. Our guide is based on the interoperability principles established by HL7 and adapts key profiles to reflect the clinical, administrative and regulatory contexts of the country.

Objective of the guide

The objective of this Implementation Guide (IG) is to provide specific FHIR profiles that support the implementation of interoperable solutions in Colombia. These profiles are designed to comply with international best practices, while conforming to local regulations and particularities.

Types of profiles included

Individuals

Profiles under this category represent information about individuals involved in health care. They include:

  • PatientCO: Profile for patients.
  • PersonCO: Represents individuals in general (not necessarily patients).
  • PractitionerCO: Health care professionals.
  • PractitionerRoleCO: Specific roles of health professionals.
  • FamilyGroupCO: Family groups.

This IG is designed for developers, software architects, IT administrators and healthcare professionals looking to implement solutions based on the HL7 FHIR standard in Colombia.
